New & Updated

WOWInterface

Welcome
Well, all I can really say here is I hope you find my addons useful. Feel free to leave any suggestions and bug reports you may have.

Delays, yadda, yadda...

Cogwheel's Avatar As you probably noticed, my addons haven't been getting much love recently. Things have been pretty hectic and that's not likely to change in the near future. We're gearing up for one of our busiest times of the year at work, and my spare time is split between my wife and a project which I am not at liberty to share at this time.

I will continue to update my mods if they break or have any bugs that need immediate consideration, but I'm sorry to say that you probably shouldn't hold your breath on any major new features in the near future.

Edit: I am at liberty to share now... Cladhaire, Kaelten, and I are working on a new book about addon programming to be released hopefully next January.

Finally...

Cogwheel's Avatar A real binding system for CogsBar is now in place!

While this fixed what was, imo, CogsBar's Achilles' Heel, there is still more work to be done. I plan to implement nearly all the feature requests listed on this site and then some. It's going to take a pretty massive overhaul to accomplish. The first thing I want to do is get CogsBar working in the Dongle framework which will greatly simplify various aspects of the mod.

However, I don't want to leave BuyDropper in the dust... I hope to have the bank withdrawals done by the end of this month (oh wait... that's only 5 days away? ) and to have the GUI completed shortly after.

Make that four...

Not to mention the Burning Crusade...

Yep... I've actually been playing WoW for the last week or two... Well, it's not technically an addon, but it sure as hellfire is competing for my attention...

BuyDropper is at a point where it's useful enough that it can basically stand on its own. I really do want to finish it sooner than later, but that could still be at least a month down the road.

CogsBar really, really, really needs a new binding system. I think I'll give my wife's lock a chance to hit 61 while I do something about that. Look for v1.9 in the next couple weeks.

Everything else is pretty stable. BuyEmAll & BuyDropper could use support for engineering, mining, and gem bags when calculating free space. Good thing they use the exact same code. It's not extremely critical though, given the nature of the mods and the items it affects.

Who knows... If I'm really bored one night, I might make BagBG switchable between the white of bank bags and the gold of key rings...

'sall for now.

What's going on?

Cogwheel's Avatar Well, I've got three addons fighting for my attention at the moment:

BuyEmAll

BuyEmAll has a bug (blizzard's fault) that makes it calculate free space incorrectly for ammo pouches. It turns out all ammo pouches and quivers are designated as "Quiver" so there's no way to know whether a bullet will be able to go into it.

I've thought of a couple workarounds, neither of them are very pretty... One would be to hard code item ids for the various ammo pouches (much like I do currently for herbalism & enchanting materials). The other would be to assume the user is only going to buy the type of ammo that matches their quiver. This would be easiest and more future-proof, but I would hope that blizzard would fix the problem some time down the road.

CogsBar

CogsBar is ballooning in functionality, too. I am very close to putting the finishing touches on multiple state support. This will allow you to do things like:

Code:
/cogsbar create 12x1 ctrl alt
that will create a 12x1 button bar that changes mapping based on whether you have ctrl, alt, none, or both depressed. Some other features I'm planning:
  • Allow bars to hide depending on things like unit existence (target by default), combat, etc.
  • Remapping based on whether your target is hostile or friendly
  • More flexible bindings
  • Scaling of bars
  • And of course a GUI sometime down the road

BuyDropper

I've been trying to get the new version of BD done for months now. I've got the GUI basically complete. I just need to write the actual tracking code and combine the two. Finding time to work on it is tough... I'm just not as motivated by it as I am CogsBar... Perhaps that's due to the fact that I actually use CogsBar on all my characters. Oh well.

Phwew... glad that's pretty much over

Cogwheel's Avatar Boy oh boy this patch has been a doozie... Well, I'm glad to say I've finally gotten all my mods updated on the various sites. A lot has been going on over the last couple months, and it was at the expense of my attention to BuyDropper... Anyway, I've resumed work on it. I have the options menu pretty much finished. Now it's just a matter of setting up the system to track the items and then the system to buy them. Here's another screenshot... Not an incredible amount of change since my last update, but it's basically the final appearance:
